down to business

tasks

Utilize Adobe Illustrator to build out my personal brand incorporating color, text, and principles of design layout. Required elements included letter head, business cards and a logo

preliminary stages

I approached this project by first sketching out my vision for my personal brand. I had never thought of a logo for myself before, so this was an inviting challenge. Once I solidified which sketch out of my abundant selection I wanted to move forward with, I then began to identify my color palette on Illustrator.

challenges

The most challenging part of this project appeared as I formatted my letter head. I absolutely loved my logo by this point, and felt as though the logo was competing for the viewer's eye at the top if I included my contact information on top. I had to rearrange the elements several times before I felt satisfied with the layout.

outcome

In the end, I loved each piece of my brand identity. I feel as though they all represent a different piece of my self, with the pink color being centering and identifiable. The script that I chose to utilize for my logo also spoke to the more creative and bubbly yet professional side of my brand that was important for my to emphasize. The minimalistic feel across all elements also represents my personal style, which tends to lean more minimalistic with lighter colors.

key takeaways

Through this project I became extremely familiar with the pen tool on Illustrator. I also learned how to play with contrast and layout to guide the eye through a project. The skills I picked up from this project give me confidence and a desire to build more logos in the future.
